Reminder and a Note to Neighbors <3

First things first, just a reminder that we are having a neighborhood meeting tomorrow at 11am at the Stringtown Park. We’ll be chatting about our neighborhood and the recent proposed development at Astor and Saulcy.

And now to the note… The last month has been intense for many of us, and we are so thankful for the community that has come together during this time. The fact is that folks are fed up with the constant outsider threat to the neighborhood, its people and its homes. We deserve better!

Our push against the most recent 242-unit development at Astor and Saulcy has shown us that even though outsiders have tried to divide us, Stringtown isn’t falling for the lies and manipulation anymore. We’re fighting for our neighborhood together, and we’re not going to let any outsiders stop us!

This is what we’re about. Stringtown Now was formed with one goal in mind: to make the neighborhood better for all of its neighbors. And guess what? We’re doing that together!

Unfortunately, the back-and-forth with the other neighborhood association has not helped anyone, and least of all our neighborhood. The one registered individual who represents that association has made it clear that he doesn’t want to collaborate. He has pitted neighbors against each other and against our elected officials. It’s also clear that he has very different goals since he supports this harmful development.

We all know about his lies and manipulation, but we must focus our energy on stopping this development and others like it in the future. Again, we’re not opposed to affordable housing development. We’re simply opposed to any development that harms our neighborhood. When we focus on our goal of making our neighborhood better for neighbors, outsiders become irrelevant. Learn more about this harmful proposed development here.

All that to say, thank you all for standing up for your neighborhood and for what’s right, and for not falling for the lies and manipulation that we often get thrown at us. Let’s support each other and continue this fight together!

In solidarity,

Stringtown Now
